Frequently-asked questions:

From August 2026, we operate on a rolling schedule of four days open, two days closed. This allows an optimal work/rest balance for our team, while also enabling us to offer variety to our guests.
Some weeks we will be open over the weekend, some weeks we will have a weekend off, and every other permutation will also come up.
To determine if we are open on the day you want, refer to the booking portal on our Reservations page. We also post each month’s calendar on our Instagram.
If we are scheduled to be closed on your preferred date, get in touch by email and we can discuss a special opening.

A transferrable, non-refundable deposit is taken at the time of reservation to secure your booking.
At the end of your meal, the remainder of the balance is to be paid, along with any additional items bought during the meal, by card only.
-
The booking deposit can be transferred to a reservation for a new date, provided we are notified more than 72 hours before the original reservation. Please note that deposits are transferrable but non-refundable.
Please make contact with us to rearrange your reservation for an alternative date.

For our regular service, parties of any size from one to six guests can book.
For parties of seven or more guests, please see Private Dining.
-
At dinner, all guests are served at 7pm, so try to arrive on time. If you arrive after service has begun, you may miss out on some earlier parts of the meal.
At lunch and pre-theatre, we stagger our bookings at 15-minute intervals so each party is served discreetly.
-
The dinner menu takes in the region of two and a half hours to enjoy, and the seats are yours for the night.
At pre-theatre and at lunch, we will need your seats back. Pre-theatre reservations are for 90 minutes, and lunch menu reservations are for 2 hours.
-
With the restaurant being so small, it is only viable to serve one menu to all guests. Modifying dishes or having options at various points on the menu risks jeopardising the flow of service.
With that said, if you wish to book for a party of seven or more, then we can discuss options for tailoring a menu to all guests through Private Dining.
-
Wholly plant-based cooking isn’t a particular interest of Argile’s, and to cook a plant-based menu purely to satisfy commercial interests wouldn’t feel very ethical when there are excellent, truly vegan restaurants in the city.
We would always recommend supporting these establishments in the first instance.
-
There is no dress code. Please come in what you feel comfortable in; you will be made to feel welcome.
-
The menu is best enjoyed by guests over 12 years of age or by particularly adventurous younger guests! Sadly, due to a lack of baby-changing facilities, we cannot accommodate infants.
-
No. Service is included and tips, which are ultimately damaging for the industry, are not accepted.
-
Of course! If you have a favourite bottle that does not feature on our list, you are very welcome to bring it; corkage will be charged at £30 per bottle.
